One man vows to destroy him…

Caught in a game of chess he didn’t know he was playing until it was too late, the President makes the only move he can, plunging Washington and the nation into chaos. Stunned and reeling, Vice President David Kendall takes the oath of office and tries to heal a nation in mourning. But what the new president doesn’t realize is that things in the White House aren’t always what they appear to be, and sometimes what looks like the best option may turn out to be the worst. When one fatal decision triggers consequences he never envisioned, President Kendall finds himself caught up in the same game that cost his predecessor his life.

Although there was nothing he could have done, Secret Service Agent Matthew Richter is haunted by the death of the man he had vowed to protect. When his girlfriend dumps him and his boss tells him that his job is on the line, he thinks his life cannot get any worse. He soon realizes how wrong he is when he finds himself fighting to save another president from the deadly forces that he has unwittingly unleashed.

Don Glass says:

Well done, masterfully written! A totally believable tale with enough imaginative twists to keep the story alive. The survival details were realistic and chilling and the sense of adventure and romance and intrigue wafted through the entire story line with perfect balance. The characters felt real and came alive in their own contexts in such a manner that the story simply flowed around each one quite seamlessly.

A good thriller In Sheep’s Clothing was a great addition to the seemingly all-too-cluttered landscape of political thrillers. While the plot twists weren’t terribly hidden, the entirety of the story was played out nicely. It was also good to see Beyer not pulling his punches when it came to dealing out some deaths (one in particular stood out as an area that some authors would try to work around, much to the detriment of those books). There are some nits to pick, especially for those who are into doing such, but I think that most of the errors or deviations from reality were minimal and not the sort to pull the reader out of the fictional world. I look forward to reading more from Beyer.

A surprise I enjoy reading. I have read hundreds of volumes from numerous writers in all writing styles. Most are good, some are very good and some, like this story, are outstanding! This needs to become a major motion picture. In the title of this review I said it was a surprise and that’s putting it mildly. I began reading expecting a tale of White House intrigue but I did not expect where this book would lead. To give you even a hint of the turns and twists would be a disservice to the reader. This tale is delicious in so many ways I cannot begin to do it justice. Just read the book and you’ll know of what I speak. But try,if you can, to take your time and enjoy the ride. You don’t find many gems like this one
